Coils!

Come spend some quality time with other fiber fanatics like yourself in beautiful Park Mammoth Resort, where you can hike, bike, walk, shoot or play golf when you get tired of playing with fiber. As if that ever happens!

There will also be plenty of time to sit and spin, knit, weave or simply make new friends. We invite you to join us for the second annual Fiber Frenzy Retreat! We will have featured instructorsJacey Boggs and Abby Franquemont as well as vendors including The Woolery Butterfly Girl Designs, Flaggy Meadow FiberWorks, Stone Mountain Alpacas, and Ohio Natural Fiber Network.  We always have plenty of fun stuff to play with, so don’t worry about running out of fun things to do!

Friday evening will see us gathering for some socializing and we’ll have a very relaxed fashion show Saturday evening, so please bring all those fabulous projects and be ready to show them off! There will be demonstrations throughout Saturday and Sunday so you can learn some new skills too.

Class registrations will be in advance this year, so please be sure to get your registration in early! Classes will be filled by postmark or fax date: mail your registrations to Joy Wandrey, Spinner’s End Farm, 492 Shay Lane, Springfield, KY 40069 or fax c/o: Joy Wandrey to 859-336-0256.

Bad Weather/Cancellation policy:

We require 24 hours notice in order to refund the basic registration fees or hotel charges. That means that you should contact us no later than noon on Thursday, February 16th if you believe that the weather will keep you from attending. The hotel has graciously arranged for a bad-weather room rate for the night before and/or the night following the retreat. If a national emergency, huge storm or other major weather event happens, of course, we will be as lenient as we can be!

If you have signed up and paid for a class with Abby or Jacey (those workshops that you had to pay extra for) we will do our best to sell your spot, in which case you will get a full refund. If we are unable to sell your space in a class we will not be able to refund those fees. If a situation comes up where you become unable to attend and are able to find a friend to take your place, we will do everything we can to accommodate this arrangement, but please, as with all things, early communication will yield the greatest results!

For more information please explore this website, as class lists, Instructor biographies, the fiber frenzy retreat registration 2012-2, and just about everything else is listed here somewhere. If that does not answer your questions please email fiberfrenzyretreat at gmail dot com.

I am wondering if the Fiber Frenzy will be rescheduled or if any refunds will be made in the event of icy/snowy weather which make travel impossible or unsafe for those of us who may be traveling several hours to get there.

    Thank You

  2. Susan Cayton says:

An exact location (city and state) would be helpful for out of towners interested. Thanks, SC

    Hi All,
we’re at Park Mammoth Resort, KY which is very near to Cave City, KY and to Mammoth Park, KY.
Park Mammoth resort is on the north side of the Mammoth Cave National Park.
Relevant exits should be marked either Cave City, KY or Mammoth Cave, KY.
    thanks,
    Joy

  4. Cathy Moore says:

It says on the registration form that prices increase after Jan 1. I do not see anywhere what the increased price is.

Also, how many spaces are left? Just saw this and have yet to decide

    Thanks,
    Cathy

  5. Alison Wiediger says:

Actually, if you are traveling I65, it will be most direct to get off at the Park City Exit – number 48. But, there is construction going on there, so Cave City – exit 53 – would be next most direct. The Resort is about 5 miles south on US 31W from Cave City. If you brave the construction and get off at 48, turn south on Rt 259 (right if you are northbound, left if you are southbound), right (south) on 31W, and the resort will be on your right.

  6. David Dossett says:

Just received the info – just checking about has price increased yet? and also still room? This will be my first time doing the weekend but sounds like it will be interesting to do.

    • Frenzy2012 says:

      Hi David,
the price will not increase this year, we had thought about it and decided not to do it. You’re good with the advertised prices.
      thanks,
      Joy

  7. David Dossett says:

I just received the information yesterday and would like to know if the price increase has been made and also if there is still room. Have not been before, but sounds like it will be really interesting.

There is still some room in every class, so if you know anyone who is thinking of coming, please encourage them to come along!

I tried to send you a note at the gmail site and it was returned as invalid. I can’t go this year and need more advanced notice. Also was inquiring about giving a wet or needle felting class. I make hats out of the wool from our sheep. To see them you can google lost antler ranch etsy.

      Hi Julia,
I’ll take a look at your site, and will add you to the mailing list and list of teachers interested for next year!
the email address is fiberfrenzyretreat at gmail dot com.
      thanks,

  12. Melanie Banker says:

Are there any resources here for a someone who would like to get started spinning but has not started yet? The classes seem geared towards the experience spinner.

    • Frenzy2012 says:

      Hi Melanie,
There is not a learn to spin class this year, but we will definitely consider it for next year. If you are planning to come and want to learn how to spin we could probably arrange an individual lesson for you if you like.
There will be lots of spinners, and we generally are a helpful bunch and share our knowledge willingly, so I’m sure we can get you hooked up with someone who would be willing to teach you how to spin.
If you want more specific information or want some online resources you can email me at fiberfrenzyretreat at gmail dot com.
      thanks,
      Joy

  13. Hi Joy,

I will be coming up through Nashville on Friday and returning Sunday afternoon, if someone would like a ride.

Do I need to be concerned you haven’t run the credit card yet? (Not that I really mind, you understand!)

    Jennifer

  14. Julia says:

Hi Folks, I have now posted 12 hand felted hats on my website. My heart belongs to the caves and I am really going to miss the Fiber Frenzy Retreat this weekend. Please take a look and see if anyone would be interested in a class for next year. You can watch a very dry and long demonstration about my craft at hatshaper.com . This would give future customers a peak into the hard work that goes into making a hand felted hat. I am a much better hat maker than picture taker. I have more hats to post, it just takes me a bit to get good photos. Have fun this weekend. Julia Demaree
